Wow, Kobe Bryant Has Surpassed Michael Jordan's Point Record!

The word is out that Kobe Byrant surpassed Michael Jordan's record for points; his latest accomplishment has placed him at third place on the NBA's top list of scorers.

Now just in case you are wondering who holds the top spots, they are: Karl Malone at first place and the second place holder is, the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

On Sunday night (Sunday 14th December, 2014), Kobe Bryant scored his 32,293rd point in a game that was held between two great basketball teams — the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The basketball legend, Michael Jordan, congratulated the 36-year-old Los Angeles Lakers player; his exact words were, "I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next."

I would also like to thank Kobe Bryant for a job well-done!

Were Bribes Really Offered For World Cup Votes?

Les Murray, a former member of the of FIFA's ethics committee said that someone from the world governing body's executive committee had asked a member of the Australian bid team for the for the 2022 World Cup for a kickback in exchange for a vote.

Mr. Murray had this to say:

"I know of one particular instance where one of the Australia bid team was asked for cash money by one of the executive committee members.

"I then reported that to the chairman of the investigative chamber of the executive committee, Michael Garcia, so even I have this evidence."

Hmm. So, the old saying, "Money talks,"still stands today and apparently people are being corrupted by it.

It has also been alleged that the reason that Qatar won the bid is because of their very deep pockets (For the record, that country has denied all the allegations about them buying votes; a 42-page summary released by Eckert, cleared the Gulf State of any wrongdoing).

Mr. Murray added:

"I think that FIFA made a big mistake in awarding Qatar the World Cup for many reasons.

"Among them is that it's probably among the most morally corrupt regimes in the world, it treats its migrant workers like slaves, it has draconian medieval laws that are not in keeping with modern civilization.

"Its human rights record doesn't make the country fit to be a host for the world's greatest sporting event.

"I am hoping FIFA will be more careful who it awards the World Cup hosting rights to, or at least it tries to compel a future host of the World Cup to clean up its act in the area of human rights before the tournament can actually take place in that country."

I have to admit that Les Murray's intentions are in the right place; but if FIFA is corrupt, they are going to award the country that decides to bid the highest amount of money, the rights to the World Cup (And, they couldn't care whether or not if the country has been in violation of people's human rights).

Vanessa-Mae Receives A Stiff Penalty For Fixing Races

Vanessa-Mae (Photo credit: WikiPedia)
The official announcement is out about Vanessa-Mae being banned for the period of four years by the International Ski Federation. Reliable sources have said that the British Pop violinist had her matches all fixed with the purpose of making it easy for her to qualify for the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The International Ski Federation has also banned five race officials from Italy and Slovenia.

Now, it is quite embarrassing to know that Vanessa-Mae is involved in a cheating scandal and as a result of that, she can no longer represent Thailand at the Winter Olympics (She was representing that country under her father's name, Vanakorn).

There is a lesson to be learned here and it is: "If you are cheating, you will be caught one day and that even celebrities are not immune to disqualification."

I think that Vanessa-Mae has sullied her name along with her reputation by engaging herself in that dishonourable activity.

Would her fans forgive her? Well, I believe that most of them would, because she is known worldwide mostly as a musician and not as an athlete.

On the bright side, four years is going to pass quickly (during that period, her ban would be lifted) and she can start skiing competitively again if she wishes to.

What? Joseph Randle Caught Shoplifting?

It was brought to my attention from a highly reliable source that Dallas Cowboys' reserve running back was arrested for shoplifting; this rather embarrassing incident took place at a suburban mall on Monday night.

According to Lieutenant Jason Jenkins of the Frisco, Texas, police, the star football player is accused of attempting to steal cologne and underwear from Dillard's in Stonebriar Centre Mall (I am sure that his team-mates, coach and the owner of the Dallas Cowboys were all embarrassed, because Randle's base salary is: $495,000).

Hmm. What is it that can cause a well-paid individual to shoplift? Oh, there could be many reasons for such lawless behaviour.

Now, most people would think that only the poor folks engage themselves in the illegal activity of shoplifting; however, that is far from the truth, since it was proven that a small percentage of affluent people actually shoplifted.

For starters, most shoplifters like the idea of getting something for nothing.

In Randle's case, it was probably an addiction of his — an addiction that creates an adrenaline rush within the body; which is generated by indulging in the illegal act of shoplifting.

Some psychologists believe that shoplifting should be treated like any other type of addiction and that giving the person a jail sentence would not be much of a help for the offender, because they are going to repeat the act of shoplifting to acquire that adrenaline rush; a feeling that they love so much.

To prevent another shoplifting incident, it is imperative that Joseph Randle receives professional treatment from a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
