10 Ways To Unleash The Writer In You

Ten

As bloggers, some of us struggle to complete our articles; it is as though that there is some type of invisible force working against some of us.

However, there are certain techniques that you can implement; ones that would actually help you to see your way where writing is concerned.

1.) Write When You Are In The Mood To Write

Actually, if you are not in the mood to write, it is going to take an extremely large amount of effort in order for you to get that article of yours started; much less finished.

So, would it not be in your best interest to write when you are in the mood to write? Of course it is!

Whenever, we force ourselves to do anything, it is done halfheartedly (And, remember that you want your whole heart into it).

2.) Are You An AM Person Or A PM Person?

Now, what does being an AM person or a PM person have to do with getting your article done? A lot, my friend!

Some people's natural creativity flows freely in the day period; that is the time when they can actually get most of their writing (or all of their writing) done with with ease.

Then, there are those of us who are evening or night people; we write effortlessly when the Sun is setting (Or, when the Sun has gone down).

It is important to know which type of person you are; whether you are the type of person who is highly creative in the day, or the type of person who writes without any sort of resistance at night.

Knowing which type of person you are (an AM person or a PM person) will definitely work to your advantage.

3.) Stop Being Overly Critical

People who are highly critical of what they write, are known to have serious problems pertaining to getting their articles completed; because they are always criticizing every phrase and every sentence that they write.

By the way, constructive criticism is good; because it causes you to write at your best.

When one is overly critical, nothing is good enough for them and they waste a lot of time, figuring out what to write (And, they usually end up writing very little or in most cases, nothing).

4.) Just Write

The more you write, is the better you become at it; which falls in line with the old saying, "Practice makes perfect."

You want it to become a habit of yours and when writing has been ingrained in your psyche, it would be easier for you to write an article.

Also, you do not have to post everything that you write; some of your articles could remain in the draft section of your dashboard.

5.) Write In Pieces

The truth is: that writing is not everyone's strong point (Yet, almost everyone is capable of writing an article).

If you cannot write an article in one go, write a few paragraphs at a time and stop; whenever you are in the mood to write again, you can add more paragraphs to your article; which will eventually lead to a completed article.

Believe it or not, there are bloggers who write a few paragraphs before they go to work and when they are back from their place of employment, they add a few more paragraphs to their article (And, that process of theirs eventually leads to a completed article; one that they can upload on their blog).

6.) Listen To Your Favourite Genre Of Music While You Are Writing

Listening to your favourite genre of music while you are writing will put your mind at ease; the whole purpose of this exercise is to relieve your tension and reduce your anxiety levels.

Whenever, I am about to write, I put my headphones on; I make sure that the volume level is not too high; became that can damage my hearing. And, if the volume level is too low, it would not have the desired effect on me; which is to get me in that zone; a place in my mind that unleashes my creativity.

7.) Have Faith In Yourself

Having faith in yourself is most important, because if you lack faith in your ability as a writer, you will not get any writing done.

Do you have faith in yourself as a writer? I you do, then you are guaranteed to complete your article. But, if you are lacking faith in yourself as a writer, work on ways in building that faith.

Practice writing short articles; eventually, you will get the hang of it and when you realize that you are getting better at writing, your faith in yourself as a writer would grow.

8.) Associate Yourself With Other Writers

Associating yourself with other writers is a good thing, because it places you in a position to discuss ideas of getting writing done; one of your fellow writers may even have a method that will work for you.

Also, there is a chance that you would continue to carry on with your writing if you associated yourself with those people who write (You can think of your association with your fellow writers as, a support group; one where writers would encourage each other to keep on writing).

9.) Read Inspirational Posts From Your Favourite Blogger

There are times when reading inspirational posts from our favourite blogger will actually place us in a state of mind to write something of our own.

Besides, all good writers read a lot.

10.) Write For The Fun Of It

If you write for the sake of having fun, it is going to work in your favour; because fun in itself is a stress-reliever.

There is no need for your writing process to feel like a chore. Do make it your priority to find ways of making writing fun for you (Fun helps you to cross that proverbial hurdle).

The Conclusion

The implementation of these ten methods would help you to unleash your inner writer.

I genuinely believe that there is a writer in all of us, because we are all capable of self-expression.

You can start this very moment by writing your heart out one piece at a time (You might be a bit rusty at first, but the real magic happens when you continue to write on a regular basis; the process is akin to a muscle that gets stronger every time you use it).

Happy writing, Dear Ones!

Mental Alertness Is A Blogger's Best Friend

There are times when I feel that blogging is capable of sucking people dry. Why do I think think so? For starters, there is more to blogging than meets the eye.

Almost every blogger knows, that blogging is so much more than posting articles on one's blog; it actually takes over an hour to get the entire process done, because you are not going to end it all by just updating the post on your own blog. You have to submerge yourself in the full participation; which involves visiting the blogs of others, reading their posts and commenting on them.

If your diet is poor and you are in poor health, blogging is going to take its toll on you.

Since blogging involves a lot of concentration, bloggers would benefit greatly if they took a Vitamin B-Complex supplement.

Also, an adequate amount of rest should help a blogger to be ready and most capable for the task of blogging.

Whether you have realized it or not, blogging is mostly a mental task and all bloggers should do whatever it takes (provided that the action is legal and of course a healthy one) to be mentally alert and to see to it that they can endure long hours of deep concentration.

Staying Awake To Read Posts

I have been fortunate in regards to developing the friendship of bloggers from around the world (And, if you have been blogging for a while, you would have done the same).

Due to the various time zones, some of those friends post their articles around the time that I usually go to bed (which is very late in my part of the world) and at times, I force myself to stay awake with the intentions of reading as much as I can from them.

Would you punish yourself to stay awake in order to read the articles that your friends posted? I have a strong feeling that many of you would. May I also add that it does not feel like punishment while you are doing it; the feeling is one of absolute joy. However, the following day, it dawns on you that you punished yourself when you realized that your eyes are red, tired, or you are unable to keep them open for a large portion of the day.

Logic always says to us: "Everything in moderation." But, we reply angrily, "Shut up, Logic!"

It is a good thing that I have within me that strong desire to see what my friends in the blogosphere have been up to; but I need to remember that I cannot stay awake to read all of their posts; the remaining posts can be read the following day.

So, our dear friend, Logic was right all along .

Doing Something Constructive In Sleepless Moments

As human beings, we like to involve ourselves into all sorts of activities when insomnia kicks in.

Do you have something special that you do when you cannot sleep?

Well, in my case, I would do a bit of reading and a fair amount of writing (I guess that is what a well-informed blogger likes to do when they have that extra mental energy to burn).

Also, I would catch up on some blogging; however, I would have to put some time constraints on that, because I might forget entirely that I should get some rest and continue blogging until sunrise.

When sleep refuses to show itself, I rather busy myself with something that interest me; which is way better than counting sheep.

Have You Made The Effort To Read A Good Book Lately?

Well, if you are a bookworm, the answer to that question would be, "Yes!"

However, a lot of people in today's society would rather watch television as a form of entertainment; are you one of those people?

Anyway, reading a book is more fun that watching television. Here are the reasons why:
  • Whenever, you read a book, you get the opportunity to visualize the information on the pages and this is done via your own unique interpretation, since no one sees the world exactly like you do. Whereas, if you were to watch a television show, you would be viewing the director's interpretation of the movie that you are looking at.
  • You are the one who is in control. You can put the book down anytime you feel like taking a break to go to the toilet, or to have a meal, or to simply move around. When you are entranced by television, you usually wait for a commercial break to go to the toilet or to prepare that meal.
  • A person reading a book is granted with the ability of expanding their vocabulary; because there are those moments when they would encounter words that they do not know the meaning of; in cases such as this, they would check the meaning of the word in the dictionary; no one really thinks about looking up a meaning of a word while they are watching television; because if they were to do that, they would miss out on important plots in the movie.
I am proud to admit that I have lots of reading material ― books that are educational as well as entertaining.

I am also of the opinion that too much viewing of the television can get the mind lazy, since the movie industry took the liberty of presenting people with images to view. Whereas if you developed the habit of reading good books, you develop the habit of creating your own mental images.

Please Feel Free To Recommend A Blog For Me To Read

As I have mentioned to some of you in the past, Google Blogger doesn't have a Reader feature like WordPress; so it takes me quite a long time to locate blogs that I am interested in.

To make things somewhat easier, I have asked that you recommend some blogs for me to visit.

It would be nice if Google Blogger made it easy for members of their blog site to locate blogs within their own community.

A lot of bloggers do share the links to their post via Google Plus, but not all the bloggers on Google Blogger have a Google Plus account; as a result of this, a lot of good bloggers go unnoticed.

So, until Google Blogger can come up with an easy method to locate blogs from within their own community, I would have to search for them (And, this is where your recommendations come in handy).

Balancing Reading And Writing

Photo credit: ©athrine via photopin cc
All good bloggers usually spend a great bit of their time reading; this is one of their ways of finding their next topic to write about.

Also, one cannot getaway from reading. Why? I will tell you using a simple example; let us say that you have intentions of writing an article about the late Nelson Mandela, you would read his biography and you would peruse past and present news-clips of that iconic figure.

Reading without a doubt, is also an important aspect of blogging, because once we have completed our quota of reading, it is time for us to write what we have learned (Or, even share our perspective as to why those authors were wrong).

I also read lots of articles from my fellow bloggers; there are a large number of them in the blogosophere and I knew if I were to read them all, I would have no time for writing. The trick in it is: to devote a certain amount of time to reading and a certain amount of time to writing.

I truly hope that you found this information helpful and as you have read, it is possible to balance your reading and writing.
