Kaspersky Lab Is The Latest Victim Of Hacking

Kaspersky

Who would have fathomed that one day, Kaspersky Lab would be exploited by a hacker?

No one actually.

A lot of us have actually used (or is still using) Kaspersky on our computer to ward off the attack of viruses and spyware (Hmm. Maybe, Kaspersky is unable to keep us 100% safe from various types of malware).

Recently, Kaspersky (one of the world's leading anti-virus and anti-spyware providers) admitted that their system was compromised by hackers.

Kaspersky Lab, believes that the whole purpose of the hacker's cyber-intrusion, was to learn of the company's latest technological developments.

It was also stated that the cyber-intrusion involved three unknown techniques.

An in-house investigation is currently being carried out at the Russian cybersecurity firm.

They also added, that they discovered the intrusion at an early stage.

Kaspersky Lab admitted, that the hacker had gained access to some of its files; the Russian cybersecurity company have stated, that the data the hacker acquired was "in no way critical to the operation" of its products.

Eugene Kaspersky, the company's Chief Executive Officer, had this to say:

"Spying on cybersecurity companies is a very dangerous tendency.

"The only way to protect the world is to have law enforcement agencies and security companies fighting such attacks openly.

"We will always report attacks regardless of their origin."

I believed that it was rather unfortunate that Kaspersky Lab was hacked.

Also, it was quite commendable of Eugene Kaspersky to admit that his cybersecurity company fell prey to a hacker.

How many cybersecurity companies that you know would actually admit to having their systems compromised by a hacker?

I genuinely believe that the other cybersecurity companies would have swept that hacking incident underneath their proverbial rug; because they will have that fear of losing a large percentage of their customers.

This just goes to show, that there is someone out there who is capable of penetrating the toughest cybersecurity systems known to man (Do think about that the next time that you are about to install an anti-virus and anti-spyware program on your computer).
