Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who are having second thoughts about blogging.

It Is Your Blog And Not Theirs

I am sure that before you started blogging, you probably read various articles explaining that in order for your blog to be successful, you would need to choose a popular niche.

While there is nothing wrong with choosing a niche, it is not mandatory that you do so; but, only choose a niche for your blog if your heart has lead you in that direction.

It saddens me to see people adopting certain ideologies (especially ones that they are not truly in agreement with) because they think that it is going to help increase their readership.

Although I agree that everyone should know the basics of blogging, they are all free to experiment with their blog and do what their intuition tells them to do with it.

Remember dear friends, it is your blog and you are free to do whatever you want with it; you can implement a niche, or you can blog about miscellaneous subjects.

Do People Really Understand What Bloggers Do?

Some bloggers (like myself), blog for the fun of it; while other bloggers do it as a business — an online business that brings in the additional cash for them.

We bloggers are known to take the art of blogging seriously; whether it be a personal blog, or one that is done solely for business.

Some People Have The Misconception That We Bloggers Have Lots Of Time To Waste

Some people think that since we blog regularly, we probably have a lot of free time on our hands; while this may be true for only a handful of bloggers, the rest of them make it their priority to post something online whenever they can.

The reality is: that the timing is never really perfect; there is always something popping up — things that need to be done.

Like any other activity, we bloggers find the time for it (Or, it remains undone if we don't find the time for it).

A Lot Of People Don't Know What A Blog Or A Blogger Is

Yes, believe it or not, there are a lot of people who don't know what a blog, or a blogger is.

When I was at the computer repair shop last month, I was interacting with a teenager; he was showing me his YouTube page and I in turn, showed him my blog; he asked me what a blog was and I told him.

So, don't take for granted that all people know what a blog or a blogger is.

Not All People Are Interested In Blogging

It is quite understandable that since there are those who are not interested in blogging, they have not went out of their way to know what we bloggers do and up to this very day, don't have the foggiest idea of what blogging is really all about; to them, it is just a word without a meaning.

Some People Think That All Bloggers Are Nerds

This is another misconception held by some; they think that because we blog, we are computer savvy; while this may be true for some bloggers, it is not true for all of them.

There are bloggers who only learned the basics of  computer usage and to find their way around their dashboard; so whenever they are ready to blog, they can do it with ease.

Most Bloggers Post Within A Niche

There are a lot of bloggers who post within a niche; they do their best to bring you up-to-date information about entertainment, fashion, literature, etcetera; you can think of them as reporters in a sense.

There Are Bloggers That Disregarded The Niche

These are many people who have chosen to blog about miscellaneous subjects; therefore, a niche would only hold back their creativity.

A Blogger Follows His Or Her Heart

Most bloggers would only blog about things that they genuinely love and they are always willing to bring across in their posts what the mainstream media fails to discuss; which can range from the conservative to the highly sensitive issues.

Blogging Is Not All About Writing

While there are writers who blog (which is what most people are familiar with), there are bloggers who post their photography with some words added to it, or no words at all.

You also have those who post their favourite videos on their blog and the blogger who enjoys sharing their artwork with the rest of the world.

The Conclusion

I hope that I have shattered some of the myths that people have pinned on bloggers and I also hope that I have created some clarity on what bloggers do.
